Automating the review

Desktop reviews were the definition of tedious: repetitive, manual, and slightly different depending on who ran them. Inconsistency in a control step is a risk, not a preference.

I'm standardizing the Desktop Review procedure through an automated dashboard — one process, one status view, the manual steps stripped out of every monthly cycle.

The groundwork started earlier in my career: building graphical dashboards for analysis and reporting of VAT return data with Power BI and Alteryx, turning raw return data into something a reviewer can actually reason about.

Reviews are consistent and faster, review status is visible at a glance, and the process improvement compounds — every cycle that runs on the standard is a cycle nobody spends on mechanics.
